Salalah Starts Receiving Khareef Flights

Muscat: Salalah Airport recently welcomed the inaugural direct flight of Flynas from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the khareef season, the airline plans to operate a total of 10 weekly flights from three major cities in Saudi Arabia. Specifically, there will be an average of four flights from Riyadh, three from Dammam, and three from Jeddah.

In addition to Flynas, other airlines are also expanding their operations at Salalah Airport. Kuwait Airways, for instance, has started operating four flights per week, bringing in 220 tourists each time. This service will continue until the end of October.

Jazeera Airways, on the other hand, will be offering three weekly flights from Kuwait to Salalah.

Furthermore, SalamAir will be operating a weekly direct flight from three different locations: Baghdad, Bahrain, and Fujairah.

Oman Airports, in collaboration with strategic partners, ensures a smooth and hassle-free experience for passengers arriving or departing from Salalah Airport. Travel procedures are efficiently completed, making the journey convenient for all travelers.

It should be noted that Salalah Airport experienced a significant rise in flight activity during the month of May, with a 26 percent increase compared to the previous year. This resulted in a total of 814 international and domestic flights arriving and departing through the airport, surpassing the 645 flights recorded in May of the previous year.

In addition to the overall increase in flight numbers, international flights saw a 14 percent growth, while domestic flights witnessed an impressive 42 percent surge. Furthermore, the number of passengers passing through Salalah Airport also saw a notable increase of 17 percent, reaching a total of 95,336 passengers in March.

Looking at a broader timeframe, Salalah Airport has observed a remarkable growth in air traffic, with a 29 percent increase in air traffic numbers and a substantial 43.4 percent rise in the number of passengers until August 15, 2023, when compared to the same period in 2022.
