ROHM To Welcome Soul Stirring Shows In November 2024

Muscat: Following the critically acclaimed commencement of the new season, the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is resuming its schedule with an extensive array of events, showcasing international performances on Oman's stage.

Looking ahead to November 2024, the opera house's schedule promises a diverse range of shows, including Portuguese soul music, the majestic displays of marching bands, an open-air concert, and an elegant evening of jazz.

The month of November will commence with a concert featuring Cristina Branco, a renowned Fado singer whose performances are characterized by authenticity and flair, offering a profound connection to the soulful Portuguese genre that resonates deeply with audiences. This concert, scheduled for just one night, will provide an insightful look into this remarkable musical tradition, as well as evoke feelings of love and loss among attendees.

Subsequently, the annual three-night military music festival will take place on the pristine maidan (square) of the main opera house. This event will feature a temporary auditorium capable of seating over 2,000 people, setting the stage for an engaging performance. The festival will showcase Oman’s military and police marching bands, in collaboration with visiting bands from Jordan and Austria. This dynamic exhibition will combine international flair, captivating light displays, and seamless collaboration, leaving a lasting impact.

The middle of November 2024 marks the return of Ahlam Al Shamsi to the opera house, performing in a new open-air concert format. This Emirati superstar will present her most beloved repertoire, ensuring a sell-out event.

The final concert of the main program in November 2024 will consist of two nights of jazz, featuring a special guest from the global stage. Anthony Strong, an exceptional musician and performer, will present a program of jazz classics from legends such as Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, alongside his own original compositions.

In collaboration with the Latvian Radio Big Band, this event will serve to inspire a lifelong appreciation for jazz. Audiences have expressed a high regard for this distinguished gentleman of jazz, making this show highly anticipated.

Furthermore, two innovative initiatives will be introduced in November 2024 by the education team. These initiatives aim to foster a love for reading, writing, and the theater, with the exclusive presentation to selected schools in Muscat of the beloved story around the book character Geronimo Stilton by Italian author Elisabetta Dami, accompanied by a workshop on bringing characters to life through writing for children. Additionally, Let’s Read, a theatrical presentation that explores the enchanting tale of Beauty and the Beast, will be presented.

November 2024 will conclude with the Opera di Monte Carlo singers performing arias from the La Fille du Regiment at the Opera Galleria.
