Ramadan To Start From March 12 In Oman

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs declared on Sunday that Tuesday, March 12, 2024, will mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadhan 1445 AH, as the crescent of the holy month was not sighted this evening. Therefore, tomorrow, March 11, will be the completion day of the month of Shaaban.

In a statement released, it was mentioned that the main moonsighting committee for Hijri months met on Sunday, the 29th of Shaaban 1445 AH, corresponding to March 10, 2024. The committee, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, included members such as Sheikh Dr. Kahlan Nabhan Al Kharousi, Eng. Khalid Hilal Al Busaidi, Ahmed Saleh Al Rashidi, Sheikh Mohammed Salim Al Akhzami, Sheikh Abdulrahman Abdulsattar Al Kamali, and Sheikh Mohammed Salim Al Nahdi.

The committee gathered to receive reports on the crescent sighting to determine the start of the month of Ramadan for the year 1445 AH. No reports were received, leading to the decision that Monday, March 11, 2024, will be the 30th day of Shaaban 1445 AH, and Tuesday, March 12, 2024, will be the first day of Ramadan 1445 AH.

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs took the opportunity to extend sincere greetings and blessings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, praying for his health and blessings. Additionally, the Ministry wished blessings and success to all Muslims on this auspicious occasion.
