Oman Participates In GCC-Japan Strategic Dialogue Meeting

Kuwait: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the second joint ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue involving the GCC foreign ministers and Takeshi Iwaya, Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, which took place on Monday in the State of Kuwait.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented at this meeting by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister.

During the meeting, discussions focused on ways to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the GCC states and Japan across various sectors, particularly in economic, trade, and investment areas. This initiative aims to fulfill mutual interests and bolster sustainable development efforts, aligning with the execution of the joint action plan established between Japan and the GCC for the period spanning 2024 to 2028.

The ministers highlighted the significance of broadening cooperation in new and promising sectors, including renewable energy, petrochemical industries, technology, and logistics, while utilizing the advanced supply chains of both Japan and the Gulf states to enhance long-term economic partnerships.

In terms of regional and international developments, both parties discussed the latest updates and exchanged perspectives on critical issues, with a primary focus on the Palestinian cause and the dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, which has arisen from the severe Israeli aggression and the ongoing refusal to withdraw from Palestinian territories, obstructing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The GCC member states expressed their gratitude for Japan’s position in favor of resolving the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, which contributes to the strengthening of security and stability in the region and reflects Japan’s dedication to supporting just causes on the global stage.

The meeting was presided over by Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and the current president of the Ministerial Council session, with the GCC Secretary-General also in attendance.
