Salalah: The 4th symposium on the security and safety of vital facilities commenced on Monday at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment located in the Wilayat of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate.
Organized by the Security and Safety Services Corporation, the three-day symposium aims to emphasize various aspects of security and safety by providing in-depth insights and innovative solutions to tackle different risks. It also seeks to foster partnerships between security and safety organizations and experts in the field of safeguarding vital infrastructure, promoting a professional culture, and establishing preventive measures for a secure work environment.
The symposium will address four primary topics: Security measures for safeguarding facilities and industrial engineering; Occupational safety and health protocols; Psychological factors and contemporary technologies in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and information security; and Protecting lives and assets from common threats.
The first day featured working papers where experts and specialists from Oman and abroad deliberated on a strategy for securing vital facilities; developmental goals from a global viewpoint; workforce management; intelligent forecasting of workplace accidents; and preparedness and response to emergencies.
The symposium will cover various subjects, including the impact of artificial intelligence on the security and safety of facilities; challenges related to mental health and safety in the workplace; health, safety, and environmental considerations in oil and gas facilities; crisis management balancing proactive measures with responsive flexibility; best practices for ensuring the security of major facilities; and specific cybersecurity risks affecting industrial systems.
