Rabt-Phase Two Project Agreement To Be Signed

Muscat: Tomorrow, the Oman Electricity Transmission Company will officially sign the agreement for the strategic project "Rabt—Phase Two" and the expansion projects of the electricity transmission network in the Dhofar Governorate. The total cost of these projects exceeds OMR 322 million.

The primary objective of this project is to establish transmission lines between the Duqm station (400/132 kilovolts) and the Dhofar station (400/132 kilovolts) in the state of Salalah. This will effectively connect the main electricity transmission network to the Dhofar electricity network. Additionally, a main transmission station with a capacity of 400 kV will be established in the Shaleem region.

By connecting the networks and establishing these transmission lines, the project aims to enhance the efficiency of the electricity sector system, reduce costs, and support the Sultanate of Oman's plans to integrate renewable energy plants. Furthermore, it aligns with the goal of achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2050. The project includes the construction of electricity transmission lines spanning a length of 590 kilometres.

Moreover, the expansion projects for the electricity transmission network in the Dhofar Governorate, with a total cost of approximately OMR 65 million, involve extending 132-kilovolt electricity transmission lines over a distance of 269 kilometres. This extension will connect the Wilayat of Al Mazyouna and the Niyabat of Shahb Asaib in the Wilayat of Rakhyut, passing through the Niyabat of Madhi in the Wilayat of Thumrait. Additionally, three 132 kV power transmission stations will be constructed as part of these projects.

Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al Ramahi, the CEO of Oman Electricity Transmission Company, has emphasized the company's unwavering commitment to enhancing and advancing its operations. The company is dedicated to expanding the electricity transmission network by establishing new stations, improving existing projects, and extending transmission lines. These efforts are aimed at improving the performance, efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and safety of the transmission network.

Furthermore, the Oman Electricity Transmission Company is actively engaged in various projects to enhance the network's performance in response to the growing demand in the electricity sector.

As part of the Nama Group, the Oman Electricity Transmission Company is responsible for transmitting and controlling electricity across the Sultanate of Oman. It plays a crucial role in transferring electricity from production stations to load centers in all governorates. Operating at a voltage of 132 kilovolts and above, the transmission network covers a significant portion of the governorates. Additionally, the company manages interconnection lines between Oman and the Gulf interconnection network, operating at a voltage of 220 kilovolts.
