Promoting Oman As Summer Tourism Destination

The governorates of the Sultanate of Oman are currently hosting recreational tourism events and forums during the summer to promote and support tourism, investment, and entertainment.

These events aim to bridge the gap between internal and external tourism, while also contributing to the overall development of the country. One such event is the Ajwaa Al Ashkharah Forum, which focuses on integrating tourism with cultural and economic aspects, and aims to sustain tourism activities by establishing permanent sites for hosting events.

Additionally, these events help strengthen the bonds between different societal groups within the governorate.

According to data released by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Sultanate of Oman welcomed approximately 956,600 visitors in the first quarter of this year, with 322,400 visitors coming from Gulf countries.

The statistics also revealed that hotels in the Sultanate of Oman had an occupancy rate of 38% during the same period.

Moreover, during the Khareef Dhofar season, the 'Sikka' electronic platform was introduced to provide visitors with easy and reliable rental services, enhancing the management of residential units efficiently while safeguarding the rights of landlords and tenants.

Ahmed bin Mohammed al Ghassani, Director of the Quality Control Department at the General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, highlighted that the 'Sikka' digital platform for renting residential units aims to elevate quality standards and streamline registration and licensing processes to enhance services for guests during the Khareef Dhofar season.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has initiated a promotional initiative scheduled to run until the conclusion of August. The primary objective of this campaign is to boost domestic tourism, showcase heritage and tourist attractions, and increase tourism activity in the region all year round.

As part of the campaign, efforts will be made to highlight indoor attractions like museums, shopping and leisure centers, as well as moderate-temperature destinations such as Jabal Shams, Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, and the beaches of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate and Al Wusta Governorate.
