Professional Translators To Receive Official IDs

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, in partnership with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), has recently introduced the Professional Cards for Translators initiative. This initiative is in line with the strategic goals of both the ministry and the chamber, as outlined in Oman Vision 2040, to enhance and regulate the business environment, promote competitiveness among specialized institutions, and emphasize the importance of issuing professional cards for businesses. These cards contain specific details about the institution, the translation license, and its expiration date.

To support this initiative, an agreement was signed between Dr Saleh bin Saeed Masan, Under-Secretary for Commerce and Industry, and Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, OCCI Chairman. The chamber's role includes developing a specialized program for issuing translator ID cards and providing a dedicated card-printing device, with all associated financial costs covered.

The introduction of professional cards for translators will improve the efficiency of regulating specialized translation institutions, facilitate the organization of the labor market, and create a favorable environment for job seekers in this field. These cards will also play a crucial role in fostering collaboration with relevant entities for translation services.

The platform's cloud database offers a well-structured list of professionals, simplifying the search and categorization process and ensuring easy access to information. It enables concerned parties and the public to verify the validity of the cards and access associated information, such as licensing, commercial registration, and contact details.

Shaikh Ahmed bin Amer al Misfahi, Chairman of the Committee for Small and Medium Enterprises at the chamber, emphasized that the introduction of translator ID cards is intended to enhance the working conditions for specialized small and medium enterprises in this sector. The goal is to standardize the operations of these establishments similar to other administrative entities linked to various organizations, thereby enhancing the organization of the labor market through improved efficiency of these enterprises.
