Muscat: The passenger traffic at Salalah Airport has seen a notable increase of 11 percent since the commencement of the Khareef Dhofar season in 2024, with a total of 10 international airlines now operating direct flights from 18 destinations to Salalah.

Oman Airports is committed to ensuring that all facilities are accessible to both operators and visitors during the tourist seasons observed by the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, particularly during the Dhofar Khareef season and the winter season. To achieve this, the airport is enhancing its workforce and infrastructure to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers and aircraft.

Zakaria bin Yaqoub Al Harrasi, the Vice President of Salalah Airport, has noted that the Dhofar Governorate has experienced significant tourism activity during the Khareef season, which has contributed to the 11 percent increase in passenger traffic at Salalah Airport, a month following the start of the Dhofar Khareef season 2024 in comparison to the same period in 2023.

He expressed optimism that this increase in passenger traffic will continue in alignment with the events and activities held in Dhofar Governorate during this season, characterized by an exceptional atmosphere that attracts both Omani and Gulf tourists.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the number of international operators at Salalah Airport has reached a milestone, with 10 airlines now operating direct flights from 18 destinations to Salalah during the Dhofar Khareef season 2024. This achievement underscores the airport management's efforts to operate the airport at its fullest and highest efficiency, with preparations currently underway for the winter season that follows the Khareef season.

He further explained that "Oman Airports" has introduced a new, exceptional, complimentary service for visitors to Dhofar Governorate via Salalah Airport, known as the "Travel Easier" service. This service includes a dedicated hall for travelers to complete their travel procedures adjacent to the air cargo building at the airport. It aims to expedite the process of receiving passengers' bags and delivering boarding passes before the departure time, with a minimum of 6 hours and a maximum of 12 hours, to all airlines operating through Salalah Airport. This service has been inaugurated daily from 8 am to 8 pm.
