Oman's Airports Handle Over 2.5 Million Passengers By End Of February 2025

Muscat: By the end of February 2025, the number of passengers passing through the Sultanate of Oman's airports had decreased by 6.7%, to 2,535,246, compared to 2,717,835 passengers during the same period in 2024. Preliminary statistics from the National Center for Statistics and Information suggested a reduction across the Sultanate's airports, with differing effects on individual locations.

Muscat International Airport saw a 7.5% reduction in passenger numbers, handling roughly 2,280,280 passengers at the end of February 2025, down from 2,463,856 in the same period in 2024. Muscat International Airport's overall number of flights declined by 11 percent, to 15,133 from 16,996 in February 2024. Indian, Omani, and Pakistani nationals were the most frequent visitors to Muscat International Airport in February 2025.

Salalah Airport, on the other hand, had a 5.4 percent rise in passenger traffic, rising from 232,077 in the same period last year to 244,590 at the end of February 2025. However, the overall number of flights at Salalah Airport fell by 8.1%, from 1,572 to 1,444 flights.

Sohar Airport experienced a substantial drop in activity, with the number of flights falling by 74.5 percent to just 28 by the end of February, compared to 110 flights in the same period in 2024. Passenger numbers at Sohar Airport fell by 98 percent, to 226 from 11,410 in February 2024.

Duqm Airport likewise saw a modest reduction in flights and passengers. The number of flights declined by 3.8% to 100, compared to 104 in February 2024, while passenger counts fell by 3.3% to 10,150, down from 10,492 in the same time the previous year.
