Muscat: It is anticipated that the Sultanate of Oman's National Day holiday will occur on both Monday and Tuesday, November 18-19, 2024, as per the Royal Decree No. 88/2022.
There has been a public expectation that the holiday would be rescheduled to include Wednesday and Thursday, November 27-28, 2024, to offer the public an extended period of celebration.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has promulgated Royal Decree No. 88/2022, which establishes the official holidays for the State's Administrative Apparatus, public legal entities, and private sector establishments concerning Eids and other specified occasions. The decree outlines the following fixed dates for these holidays:
1. Hijri New Year's Day will be observed on the 1st of Muharram.
2. The Prophet's Birthday will be celebrated on the 12th of Rabee Al Awwal.
3. Al Isra'a Wal Miraj will be observed on the 27th of Rajab.
4. The National Day will be observed on the 18th and 19th of November.
5. His Majesty the Sultan's Accession Day will be on the 11th of January.
In the event that any of the designated weekly off days coincides with the aforementioned holidays, it will be compensated by an additional day. The dates of these holidays may be adjusted at the discretion of the public interest.
