Oman, Japan Review Implementation Of Projects In Economic, Free Zones

Tokyo: Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), recently conducted a meeting in Tokyo with Saito Ken, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

During the meeting, the focus was on reviewing the economic cooperation between Oman and Japan, as well as discussing the significant projects currently underway in Oman's economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities.

One of the most notable projects highlighted was the low-carbon iron production project, which is located in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD). In addition to this, Dr. Al Sunaidi also engaged in meetings with representatives from companies involved in the production of reduced iron and its derivatives, as well as those manufacturing equipment for renewable energy production, aircraft, ships, vehicles, and hydrogen-related infrastructure. Furthermore, discussions were held with various financial organizations to explore potential funding opportunities for the targeted projects.

Dr. Al Sunaidi and his delegation were also provided with insights into the operations of Yokohama Port, particularly in terms of handling energy and petroleum product transportation, as well as vehicle reception and storage.

Additionally, meetings were held with the Mayor of Yokohama City and several officials from Yokohama Port to explore avenues of cooperation between the Ports of Yokohama and Duqm.
