Oman, EU Explore Boosting Maritime Security, Economic Cooperation

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Oman, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, met with Luigi Di Maio, the Special Representative of the European Union (EU) for the Gulf. They discussed various areas of cooperation between Oman and the EU, focusing on maritime security, as well as technical, economic, and cultural collaboration. Both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing trade liberalization between the GCC and the EU, and working towards mutual visa cancellation.

Additionally, they exchanged perspectives on the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip resulting from Israeli aggression, which has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, homes, and public services. They emphasized the importance of ending the conflict and holding Israel accountable, while advocating for a Two-State Solution in accordance with international law and UN resolutions. Urgent calls were made for a ceasefire and the lifting of the blockade on Gaza to facilitate humanitarian aid to the affected population.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskari, the Head of the GCC Department at the foreign Ministry, Christophe Farnaud, the EU Ambassador to Oman, and various officials from both sides.
