Oman, Croatia Vow To Boost Bilateral Cooperation

Zagreb: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, held a meeting with Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia at the Presidency headquarters in Zagreb on Wednesday.

The meeting is part of the foreign minister's official visit to Croatia.

Both sides emphasized their commitment to enhancing friendly relations and bilateral cooperation across various sectors for the mutual benefit of their countries and peoples.

Discussions included various regional and international topics, underlining the significance of supporting peaceful initiatives and upholding international law to promote positive collaboration and mutual respect, ensuring security and peace for all.

In attendance were Grlić Radma, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Yousef bin Ahmed al Jabri, Ambassador of Oman to Croatia, and officials from both nations.

Simultaneously, Oman and Croatia engaged in political talks in Zagreb to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation, trade, and key sectors like green economy, renewable energy, IT, digital transformation, food security, and tourism.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, represented the Sultanate of Oman, while Grlić Radma, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, led the Croatian delegation.

During the meeting, discussions were held on various regional and international issues, particularly focusing on the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in Gaza under Israeli blockade.

Sayyid Badr emphasized the urgent need for a lasting ceasefire, ensuring humanitarian aid reaches Gaza, and initiating a political process for a two-state solution based on international law and justice for all.

Both sides agreed to a memorandum of understanding for political consultations.

Following the meeting, a joint press conference was held to highlight the longstanding bilateral relations between Oman and Croatia, built on trust, respect, and cooperation in economic, cultural, and scientific areas.

Both parties have reached an agreement to finalize additional agreements, memoranda of understanding, and cooperation programs across various sectors such as education, culture, tourism, and renewable energy.

The two sides have also engaged in discussions regarding regional and international matters of mutual concern, committing to further consultations and coordination within international bodies to tackle security, economic, climate, and environmental issues.

Oman and Croatia emphasized the importance of ending the conflict in Gaza, expediting humanitarian aid delivery, and diligently working towards implementing international resolutions for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, aiming for a fair and enduring peace in the Middle East.
