Oman Air Achieves Significant Progress In Workforce Restructuring Plan

Muscat: Oman Air has made notable strides in its strategic workforce restructuring plan, a crucial element of its comprehensive transformation initiatives aimed at improving financial flexibility and ensuring long-term business sustainability.

Over the last 18 months, the airline has collaborated closely with stakeholders to align its workforce restructuring efforts with industry standards and strategic objectives. As part of this initiative, Oman Air has provided various options for impacted employees, including end-of-service benefits, priority consideration for internal and sector-wide job openings, and tailored employment assistance.

To reconcile its long-term profitability objectives with its dedication to employee welfare, the company has allocated OMR15 million to support affected staff and safeguard their financial well-being. Furthermore, by replacing 487 expatriate positions with Omani nationals, Oman Air has raised its Omanisation rate to 79.4%, an increase from 74.8% in 2023. This underscores the airline’s commitment to fostering Omani talent and ensuring their integral role in shaping the company’s future.

Out of the 415 surplus employees, 74 have been successfully reassigned within the organization, while 87 positions were made available in other companies within the sector. Additionally, 293 employees chose to accept voluntary resignation packages ranging from 12 to 24 months. Oman Air continues to work alongside the Ministry of Labour and the General Federation of Oman Workers to identify suitable solutions for the remaining employees.

Kone Korvettis, CEO of Oman Air, expressed pride in the successful redeployment of numerous employees, reaffirming the company’s commitment to developing an airline that not only enhances Oman’s aviation industry but also creates a positive and sustainable impact on the nation and its people.
