Number Of Passengers Through Oman's Airports Reaches Nearly 5 Million By End Of April 2024

Muscat: According to recent statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information, the Sultanate of Oman's airports experienced a significant increase in passenger traffic by the end of April 2024. The total number of passengers reached 4,901,796, marking a 16.4 percent increase compared to the previous year's figure of 4,209,846. This growth was accompanied by an increase in the number of flights, with 36,042 flights recorded in April 2024, compared to 32,071 flights in April 2023.

Preliminary data specifically focused on Muscat International Airport, revealing that the number of passengers traveling through this airport reached approximately 4,430,119 by the end of April 2024. This represents a notable increase of 16.8 percent. The number of flights also saw a positive trend, with 32,520 flights recorded during this period, reflecting a 12.4 percent increase.

Among the flights at Muscat International Airport, there were 29,862 international flights, accommodating 497,728 passengers. Additionally, there were 2,658 domestic flights, serving 332,391 passengers.

During the month of April, Indian nationals constituted the largest group of passengers traveling through Muscat International Airport, with 89,206 arrivals and 83,855 departures. Pakistani nationals followed with 21,191 arrivals and 19,532 departures, while Bangladeshi nationals accounted for 12,829 arrivals and 20,597 departures.

Moving on to Salalah Airport, the number of passengers traveling through this airport reached 429,181, indicating a 9.9 percent increase. The total number of flights also experienced a similar growth rate, with 3,122 flights recorded, representing a 9.9 percent increase.

In terms of international flights, Salalah Airport handled 1,660 flights, carrying 214,934 passengers. Domestic flights, on the other hand, amounted to 1,462, accommodating 214,247 passengers.

Lastly, Sohar Airport served 22,390 passengers on 192 flights, while Duqm Airport recorded 20,106 passengers on 208 flights.
