Mwasalat Passengers Soon To Get Real Time Information On Buses

Muscat: Mwasalat, a pivotal entity in the development and improvement of the public transportation infrastructure in Oman, is set to implement Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) Systems at bus stations and bus stops throughout the Sultanate.

To facilitate this, Mwasalat has initiated a tender process for the procurement and installation of RTPI systems, encompassing both the hardware and software components, as well as ongoing support and maintenance services.

The deadline for the submission of tender documents has been established for August 28.

In the tender announcement, Mwasalat highlighted the objective of this project to elevate the quality of public transportation services through the adoption of cutting-edge, smart solutions.

RTPI displays will be strategically placed at selected bus stations and individual bus stops, tailored to meet the operational needs outlined in the tender documents.

Mwasalat has successfully facilitated the transportation of over 4.5 million passengers in 2023, marking a 40 percent increase from the previous year's record of 3.2 million passengers served in 2022, as per the data.

Operating under the government, the company has managed to transport more than 11,700 passengers daily, with a total of 4,271,732 passengers traversing the Sultanate.

Furthermore, Mwasalat's ferry service has seen a notable increase in passenger numbers, with over 236,986 individuals utilizing its services in 2023, surpassing the previous year's total of 221,000 passengers.

The company is actively engaged in enhancing its infrastructure and broadening its transport network to cater to the growing demands of passengers across various regions of Oman.
