Muttrah Tourism Centre Gives Vital Information On Oman's Heritage And Tourist Sites

Muscat: The Tourism Hub Centre at the Muttrah Waterfront, located within the Muscat Governorate, serves as a pivotal institution in disseminating information and guiding tourists towards the most significant heritage sites and a variety of tourist destinations within the Sultanate of Oman.

This center is equipped to address inquiries and furnish visitors with essential details regarding tourism companies, hotels, heritage and entertainment activities, and events, thereby facilitating their exploration of these offerings.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has reported that since its inauguration on January 1, 2024, through mid-August of this year, the Tourism Hub Centre has welcomed over 6,000 visitors.

The center has been inundated with a multitude of inquiries, with a particular focus on tourist sites and services within Muscat Governorate, traditional markets, transportation and communication directions, dining recommendations, and assistance in arranging trips or tours, as well as cruises to Muscat or its vicinity.

Hana bint Salem Al Bahrani, the Head of the Heritage and Cultural Tourism Department and Supervisor of the Tourism Hub Centre in the Wilayat of Muttrah, has highlighted the center's provision of a diverse range of tourism materials, including brochures, leaflets, tourist guide cards, and maps, alongside information pertaining to museums, companies offering tourism services, and hotels.

Al Bahrani further emphasized the center's role in promoting events and activities across various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman throughout the year and its commitment to collecting feedback from tourists on tourism aspects to enhance their services.

She confirmed that the department responsible for the operation and management of the center is in the process of implementing electronic forms for tourists to submit inquiries related to tourism and another form to gauge visitors' satisfaction with the information and services provided by the center. Additionally, an employee form is being developed to record the number of visitors and their nationalities.

Al Bahrani also mentioned that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has recently concluded the preparation of maps and designs for the establishment of tourist hub centers in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The center is currently awaiting final approvals from the relevant government agencies to commence the implementation phase, with a focus on incorporating sustainable practices within the tourism sector.
