Muscat Municipality has revealed the exciting details of its latest venture, Al Khuwair Square, located in the Ministries District. This remarkable project showcases the Sultanate of Oman's tallest flagpole, an impressive structure standing at a towering height of 126 meters.
The unveiling ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Governor of Muscat, along with His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Harssha Shetty, CEO of Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel, a subsidiary of Jindal Group in Oman, which provided the financial support for this monumental undertaking.
Spanning across an expansive area of 18,000 square meters, this project offers a plethora of recreational amenities. In addition to the magnificent flagpole, Al Khuwair Square boasts lush green spaces, palm trees, walking and cycling paths, an outdoor arts and crafts exhibition, a skate park, and designated areas for various sports activities. Furthermore, the project includes public facilities such as restrooms and a parking lot with 107 spaces. As a result, this space will serve as a haven for leisure and outdoor sports enthusiasts, making it a stunning addition to the heart of Muscat, the capital city.
The flagpole at Al Khuwair Square will proudly stand as Oman's tallest man-made structure, surpassing the height of a 40-story building. Constructed from an impressive 135 tons of steel, the Omani flag that adorns the pole will measure an impressive 18 meters in length and 31.5 meters in width. Additionally, the flagpole is equipped with a warning light system to ensure the safety of aircraft.
