Muscat: Chairman of Muscat Municipality Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi toured the Al AnsabAl Jifnain road dualization project on July 16 as part of his continuous field visits to supervise development and service initiatives in the Wilayat of Bausher and evaluate progress.
This significant infrastructure initiative seeks to alleviate traffic congestion and meet the area's increasing demands.
The 15-kilometer route entails widening the present single-lane road from the Falaj Al Sham Roundabout into a dual carriageway with three lanes in either direction.
Additionally, the initiative calls for the installation of intelligent traffic light systems at critical junctions to enhance traffic flow and safety, the conversion of four roundabouts into multi-level interchanges, and the construction of three flyovers that link to the Al Jifnain Bridge.
Additionally, the scope covers the relocation and protection of utility lines to prevent disruption to progress, the construction of box culverts for stormwater and wadi drainage at key sites, and the installation of 20 kilometers of service roads next to the main carriageway.
He praised the project team and contractor for their commitment, noting that the project is currently 58% finished, which is ahead of schedule.
According to him, this advancement demonstrates strong on-site oversight and efficient collaboration among all parties, which might result in the project being completed earlier than planned in August 2026.
With an anticipated implementation timeframe of 36 months, the dualization of the Al Ansab to Al Jifnain route was given out in September 2023.
In accordance with Royal orders to improve road infrastructure and strengthen links between Muscat and other governorates, it is a component of a larger plan of strategic development initiatives in Muscat Governorate.
