Muscat: In order to inspect a number of crucial development projects in the Wilayats of Yanqul and Ibri that support the marketing of fisheries, animal production, and water resources, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, paid a field trip to Al Dhahirah Governorate.
The visit was attended by Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture; Sheikh Saeed bin Humaid Al Harthi, Wali of Ibri; Engineer Salem bin Ali Al Amrani, Director General of Agricultural Resources and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate; the Chairman of the Omani Agricultural; and a number of directors general and officials from the Ministry.

The fish market project in the Wilayat of Yanqul, which is now nearing completion, was included in the visit. The project's progress and the market's components were covered in the Minister's briefing. In the Wilayat, this effort is seen as a crucial service initiative with the goal of improving the fish marketing system and promoting more efficient seafood trade in a regulated and healthy setting.
The Minister also toured the water dam in Ibri's Dhahir Al Fawares area, which was constructed through community alliances, and noted the dam's beneficial effect in replenishing groundwater and shielding residential and agricultural regions from flood threats.
From experts, he heard an explanation of the dam's operation and how it contributes to better water resource management in the area.
Additionally, the Minister paid a visit to the table egg production initiative run by the Gulf International Company in Ibri.
As one of the top investment initiatives in the field of food security, this project is a prime example.
With an estimated cost of OMR26 million and a daily production capacity of up to one million eggs across its 18 million square meters, it is regarded as one of the biggest projects in the Gulf area. It was founded in 2019. He was educated on the manufacturing phases and methods utilized in poultry production, with a focus on the necessity of backing these initiatives that provide high-quality food goods to the local market.
The Minister reiterated throughout his trip that the Ministry continues to support development and investment projects that help achieve food security and environmental sustainability. He also commended the efforts of the private sector and the successful collaboration with the local community in the success of these initiatives, which improve food production.
