The Municipal Council of the Governorate of Muscat convened its 3rd meeting for 2024 on Sunday, presided over by Sayyid Saud Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat.
During the meeting, the council approved the agenda from the 2nd meeting, which featured various recommendations. Additionally, it examined recommendations from different committees and discussed a wide range of topics.
One of the key points of discussion was the Health and Environment Affairs Committee's recommendations for the advanced boat project. This project, overseen by the Oman Investment Authority through the Oman Fish Development Group, aims to enhance the Omani fishing fleet's capabilities for sustainable exploitation of aquatic resources while maintaining the quality of fish products.
Furthermore, the Municipal Council endorsed be'ah's proposal for waste management in the Muscat Governorate. This involves establishing a unified framework among relevant authorities, educating the public on proper waste disposal methods, promoting environmental sustainability, and enhancing overall quality of life.
Lastly, the Council reviewed recommendations from its standing committees, particularly those from the Legal Affairs Committee regarding the challenges associated with implementing regulations for scrap collection and trading in the Muscat Governorate.
