Muscat: Maj. Gen Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, welcomed Commodore Matt Solly, Deputy Commandant of the United Kingdom’s Defence Academy, and his delegation at his office in Bait Al Falaj Garrison on Wednesday.
During their meeting, the two parties engaged in discussions covering various topics related to academic and training fields.
Commodore Khalid Amer Al Salti, Director of Studies and Academic Affairs, along with several senior officers from the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, were also present at the meeting.
As part of the visit, an important memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies at the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Academy of the UK, focusing on cooperation in academic and scientific domains.
The MoU was signed by Commodore Khalid Amir Al Salti, Director General of Studies and Academic Affairs, and Commodore Matt Solly, Deputy Commandant of the UK Defence Academy.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, the Deputy Commandant of the UK Defence Academy and his delegation visited the Joint Command and Staff College (CSC) at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies.
Upon their arrival at the college, Brigadier Saif Hamad Al Yousifi, Commandant of the CSC, warmly received the guests.
The visitors were provided with a comprehensive overview of the CSC, including its curricula, training programs, and educational initiatives. They also had the opportunity to explore the college's various facilities and departments.
In addition, today the guests had the opportunity to visit the National Defense College (NDC) located in the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies at Bait Al Falaj Garrison.
Upon their arrival at the NDC, Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the NDC, warmly welcomed the guests.
The visiting delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the college's state-of-the-art facilities and also had the chance to explore the different departments of the NDC.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commandant of the UK's Defence Academy and his accompanying delegation paid a visit to the Centre for Strategic and Defence Studies, which is also situated in the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies at Bait Al Falaj Garrison.
Upon their arrival at the Centre, the guests were cordially received by the Acting Head of the Centre.
During their visit, the delegation was provided with detailed information about the centre's roles, tasks, and the wide range of strategic and defence activities carried out there.
