Muscat: Khazaen Dry Port, a subsidiary of Asyad Group, has joined the worldwide shipping network CMA CGM, allowing the port to become an authorized final destination for container shipments. This action improves the port's connection with international shipping lines while also providing local importers and exporters with more opportunities to benefit from a more efficient and flexible global distribution network.
The port recently received its first container shipment as part of this worldwide network, which came from overseas ports via Sohar Port as a transit hub. Customs clearance and handling were done on-site at Khazaen Port, owing to the port's high operational readiness and cutting-edge technology infrastructure.
Khazaen Dry Port has a variety of operational benefits that promote local and international trade, including free storage periods of up to 14 days for loaded containers and 21 days for empty containers. It also provides sophisticated services for refrigerated containers, such as electrical connection and pre-trip inspection, as well as onsite food and agricultural inspection facilities to help expedite product entry into local markets and improve supply chain efficiency.
This accomplishment highlights the success of a strategic collaboration between Asyad Group, represented by Asyad Ports and Free Zones, and the global CMA CGM Group. The service was enabled via a flexible customs corridor built in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) Customs Department.
This corridor enables containers to be transported with a shipping agent's seal, eliminating the need for standard customs sealing processes while offering the option of a written monetary promise in lieu of bank guarantees. This lowers expenses for operators, promotes direct connectivity, and boosts logistical efficiency.
