Nakhal: Today, a meeting was convened by the Committee for the Development of Wakan Village in the Wilayat of Nakhal, located in the South Al Batinah Governorate, to finalize details regarding the road project leading to the village and to evaluate plans for a tourist cable car system.
The meeting was led by Eng. Masoud Said Al Hashmi, the Governor of South Al Batinah, and attended by Sheikh Khalifa Saleh Al Busaidi, the Wali of Nakhal, the Director General of South Al Batinah Municipality, along with several officials from various governmental bodies within the governorate.
Wakan Village has been granted Royal directives for its enhancement as a tourist destination, owing to its natural beauty, elevated position, and notable tourism appeal, establishing it as a significant year-round attraction for visitors.
The meeting assessed the engineering designs and technical specifications proposed for the new road to the village, while also discussing developmental aspects and supporting services. These enhancements are anticipated to improve visitor access and bolster mountain tourism infrastructure in the area.
Additionally, discussions included studies related to the cable car project and the mechanisms for its implementation, aimed at delivering a comprehensive and unique tourism experience while safeguarding the village’s stunning mountainous landscape.
This initiative is part of the broader efforts by the South Al Batinah Governorate to enhance infrastructure and promote tourism assets throughout its wilayats, in line with the goals of "Oman Vision 2040", which seeks to diversify national income sources and foster sustainable local development.
