Construction Of First School In Sultan Haitham City Begins

Muscat: The development of the first school in Sultan Haitham City in District 9, with a capacity of more than 1,400 students, has started.

The school will be a landmark in the city's educational scene, with 90 classrooms, eight science laboratories, six art and technology classrooms, and integrated athletic facilities.

All of these are intended to create a contemporary learning environment that fulfills academic requirements, supports sports and artistic activities, and opens up new avenues for innovation and creativity.

Sultan Haitham City has an integrated educational system, the first phase of which consists of three modern educational complexes, each housing three schools with a total capacity of over 2,300 students.

These schools are close to residential districts. These complexes provide dynamic educational communities that blend academic and extracurricular activities, with playgrounds, green areas, swimming pools, and creative spaces.

These are designed to be an extension of the local community by shared spaces like school cafeterias, multipurpose rooms, and break areas. They also stress sustainability by building green roof gardens that serve as outdoor educational and recreational areas, which contribute to natural thermal insulation while also creating a healthy and pleasant atmosphere for pupils.

Faten bint Hamoud Al Harthi is an urban planner and architectural designer with the Executive Office for Future Cities at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. With the establishment of the first private school and the development of two additional models, the groundwork for a new experience are laid. taking shape, which will eventually be expanded to other governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, making schools an important hub for current metropolitan development.
