His Majesty's Visit To Further Boost Bilateral Relations Between Oman And Kuwait

The Sultanate of Oman and Kuwait have seen significant progress in their bilateral relations, showcasing the deep historic, cultural, political, and economic ties between the two nations.

During the recent visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to Kuwait and his meeting with Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, the strong relationship between the two countries was evident.

Both Oman and Kuwait have been exemplary in addressing regional and international issues. The formation of a joint committee in 2003 to enhance bilateral relations has led to the signing of numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding across various sectors.

Economic cooperation between Oman and Kuwait has flourished, particularly through joint projects in the Special Economic Zone Duqm (Sezad), such as the Duqm Refinery project.

The Omani-Kuwait Joint Committee, chaired by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Sheikh Salim Abdullah Al Jabir Al Sabah, has been instrumental in furthering cooperation between the two countries. Their latest meeting in March 2023 saw the participation of senior officials from both nations.

Dr. Saleh bin Amer Al Kharousi, Oman's ambassador to Kuwait, emphasized the significance of His Majesty the Sultan's visit in strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors.

Furthermore, he highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the two nations on various regional and global matters.

In addition, he emphasized the significant focus on economic relations between both parties. He mentioned that the inauguration of Duqm Refinery, which took place in February, was made possible through the support of His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness Emir of Kuwait. This joint venture, valued at $9 billion, stands as the largest Gulf investment.

Dr. Mohammed Nasser Madhi, the accredited ambassador of Kuwait to the Sultanate, expressed his belief that the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik will further strengthen the exceptional relations between the two countries.
