The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star was bestowed upon Retired Minister Dr. Rawya bint Saud Al Busaidi by H.E. Jota YAMAMOTO, Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate of Oman, during a ceremony held at Crowne Plaza hotel Muscat on May 5, 2024.
The event was graced by dignitaries including His Highness Sayyid Dr. Kamil bin Fahd Al Said, Her Excellency Dr. Madiha Al Shibani, His Excellency Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Honorable Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sarmi, as well as family and friends of H.E. Dr. Rawya.
This prestigious award was in recognition of her significant contributions to strengthening educational and academic relations between Japan and Oman, as announced by the Government of Japan on November 3, 2023. The Order of the Rising Sun, established in 1875, has been awarded to non-Japanese nationals since 1981.
