Dubai: The Sultanate of Oman is currently participating in the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, the premier global event for the travel and tourism industry. The event, which commenced on Monday, is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Heading the delegation from Oman is Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism. Al Busaidi mentioned that Oman is being represented by 36 establishments from both the government and private sectors, including small and medium enterprises.
During a press conference, Al Busaidi stated that Oman's participation in the event aims to explore the latest developments in the travel and tourism sector. This event provides an excellent opportunity to engage with representatives from numerous international companies and institutions, with the goal of fostering collaboration and increasing the number of tourists visiting Oman.
Furthermore, a press conference was held to highlight the various events and activities of the upcoming three-month Dhofar Khareef (monsoon season) 2024. Dr. Ahmed Mohsen Al Ghassani, the Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, announced that the Dhofar Khareef will span 90 days, starting from June 20th and concluding on September 20th, 2024.
Al Ghassani also mentioned that Dhofar Khareef 2024 will emphasize international events this year, including the First Dhofar International Theatre Festival, which will be further detailed at a later stage.
One of the significant changes is the decision by Dhofar Municipality to rotate events across its sites instead of repeating them for more than two years. Al Ghassani mentioned that Atteen Square will remain the focal point for tourism events.
The exhibition's pavilion of the Sultanate of Oman accommodates various entities including Dhofar Municipality, the Arab Tourism Organization, Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran), Oman Airports Company, and the national travel operator VisitOman. Additionally, it will feature displays from Oman Botanical Garden, Oman Across the Ages Museum, the National Museum, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Musandam Governorate, as well as several tourism and hotel companies and establishments.
