New Delhi: In light of the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) announced on Sunday that operations at Delhi Airport are running smoothly.
"The operations at Delhi Airport remain unaffected. However, due to changing airspace conditions and increased security measures implemented by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, there could be modifications to flight schedules and longer wait times at security checkpoints," the airport stated in its most recent travel advisory.
The airport operator provided an advisory for travelers, which includes the following: "Stay informed through the communication channels of your respective airline. Follow the prescribed guidelines regarding cabin and checked baggage. Plan to arrive well in advance to accommodate potential security delays. Fully cooperate with airline and security staff for efficient assistance. Check flight status through the airline or the official Delhi Airport website."
"We highly recommend that all passengers rely solely on official updates for accurate information and avoid spreading unverified information," the advisory emphasized.
Previously, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) along with other relevant aviation agencies issued multiple notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), declaring a temporary closure of 32 airports in Northern and Western India for all civil aviation operations.
The NOTAM is effective from May 9, 2025, to May 14, 2025 (which aligns with 0529 IST on 15th May 2025), due to operational requirements.
The 32 airports listed include Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.
In the early hours of Saturday, sources informed ANI that four airbases in Pakistan were targeted by Indian strikes, as tensions rise between the two nations. India executed retaliatory strikes right after Pakistan launched attacks on 26 locations across India. Ongoing intermittent gunfire is reported in several areas along the Line of Control.
