Around 200 Indigo Flyers Stranded At Istanbul Airport, Airlines Issues Statement

New Delhi: Approximately 200 passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Istanbul are currently enduring a distressing experience as their journey to Delhi has been postponed by 12 hours, according to sources.

The Indigo spokesperson has confirmed that Flight Number 6E 12, which was scheduled to depart Istanbul for Delhi, experienced technical difficulties, necessitating a delay.

To mitigate the inconvenience, the airline diligently communicated the delay to the passengers, provided refreshments, and swiftly organized measures to facilitate their wait at the airport.

Upon completion of the necessary inspections, the aircraft was cleared to proceed to its intended destination. The airline sincerely apologizes for the discomfort and delay caused to the passengers. The aircraft has now departed from Istanbul.

A passenger reported that tensions escalated among the group with airline staff, resulting in an increase in security personnel at the airport. However, there remains uncertainty regarding the rescheduled departure time.

Ashok Bagriya, a passenger, voiced concerns on social media, highlighting that over 200 IndiGo travelers, encompassing children and the elderly, have been stranded in Istanbul's airport for more than 10 hours.

"The Indigo flight from New Delhi was initially scheduled for Wednesday at 20:00 hours. There has been no satisfactory explanation provided by the airline for this delay," he lamented.

Another passenger, Govind Kanakan, expressed disappointment with the situation at Istanbul Airport, recounting the harrowing delay of the Turkish Indigo 6E-12 flight by over six hours. He criticized the airline's handling of the situation, particularly noting the quality of food served to passengers as substandard.

Hriday Madan, another passenger, shared his frustration with the service provided by Indigo Airlines, lamenting the treatment of passengers during the ordeal.

"My wife and I were scheduled to return to India from Milan via an Indigo codeshare flight with Turkish Airlines. After landing at 3 pm in Istanbul, our connecting flight has been indefinitely postponed. This has resulted in an 11-hour wait at the airport, with no Indigo representative available to assist us. It's appalling to see how an Indian airline is treating its passengers abroad," he expressed on social media.

"From 2 am to 2:30 am and then again from 4 am to 5 am. Indigo has repeatedly issued conflicting timelines for the flight, leaving hundreds of Indian travelers, including senior citizens and children, stranded for an unprecedented 12 hours," he further highlighted.
