Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has announced that starting April 1, all white and orange taxis operating in public areas will be integrated with licensed applications, following an extension of the initial schedule.
The licensed applications specified by the ministry include OmanTaxi, OTaxi, Marhaba, Hala, and Tasleem.
The phased implementation of the “Aber” application began with taxis at airports, followed by those at hotels, commercial centers, and ports in the second phase, which launched on November 1, 2023.
The third phase, originally planned to commence on January 1, 2024, will now begin on April 1, focusing on all white and orange taxis in public spaces.
This initiative is part of the Land Transport Law and its executive regulations, aimed at enhancing benefits for taxi owners through the use of innovative technologies in the licensed apps. These technologies will provide features such as trip tracking and route monitoring, while ensuring user privacy and security.
Taxi operators and the public are urged to support and comply with this program, which aims to modernize and improve the transport sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
