Added Value Of Private Enterprises In Oman Tops OMR8.8bn

Muscat: According to preliminary data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total added value of operational private enterprises in Oman reached OMR8.85 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023.

During this period, the contribution of these enterprises to the gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices accounted for 81.2 percent, a slight decrease from 84 percent in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Large enterprises contributed OMR6.57 billion, representing 60.4 percent of the added value, which is a decrease of 6.5 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. Medium enterprises, on the other hand, contributed OMR681.9 million (6.3 percent), experiencing a decline of 3.2 percent.

The data from NCSI also revealed that small enterprises contributed OMR718.6 million, accounting for 6.6 percent of the added value, showing a decrease of 2 percent. Meanwhile, micro enterprises contributed OMR870.7 million, representing 8 percent of the added value, indicating a slight increase of 0.7 percent.

Furthermore, the number of workers in active enterprises in Oman increased by 6.4 percent to 1.82 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to 1.71 million workers in the same period of 2022. Additionally, the number of enterprises increased by 8.7 percent to 240,765 during the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the corresponding period in 2022.
