Muscat: On Wednesday, the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science revealed the recipients of the 10th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts, and Literature.
This year, the award predominantly recognized individuals from the Arab region, particularly in the domains of media and communication studies, as well as the realms of film directing and novel writing.
Dr. Abdullah Khamis al Kindi was honored with the award in the field of media and communication studies (Culture branch), while Algerian novelist Waciny Laredj received the award for literature. Unfortunately, no recipient was selected for the award in the field of film directing (Arts branch).
During a press conference, Habib Mohammed al Riyami, the Head of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, stated that a total of 171 individuals competed for the award. Among them, 30 candidates submitted their entries in the field of media and communication studies, 25 candidates in film directing, and 116 candidates in the field of novels.
