Wadi Tiwi Combines Diversity Of Nature, Historical Archaeological Sites

The Niyabat of Wadi Tiwi in the Wilayat of Sur in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate is experiencing a significant surge in development projects, leading to a rise in visitor numbers during various tourist seasons. This is due to its unique attractions that blend natural diversity with historical and archaeological sites.

Saeed bin Hareb Al Obaidani, Director General of Tourism Development at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, highlighted that Wadi Tiwi's geographical location makes it a prime tourist destination. Key attractions include Bubbles Beach, Wadi Shab, Mibam village, Al Jahl archaeological village, Bin Muqram fort, Kabikab tombs, and Al-Jillah archaeological falaj. Moreover, the ancient city of Qalhat, a UNESCO World Heritage site, adds to its appeal.

Al Obaidani mentioned the availability of various accommodation options in Wadi Tiwi, such as guest houses, green lodges, rest houses, and farms. Cultural events are organized during the summer season to showcase customs, traditions, culture, and heritage to tourists and visitors.

Furthermore, Al Obaidani noted ongoing projects in the Niyabat, including a hotel apartment development, four green inn projects, three guest house projects, and approximately 20 rooms. Several tourism and investment proposals are also in progress.

Salama bint Nasib Al Farsi, a resident of Niyabat, highlighted the magnificence of Wadi Tiwi through its diverse nature and archaeological sites, making it a significant destination for enthusiasts of Omani adventure, history, and culture. The area boasts numerous archaeological sites dating back to ancient civilizations.

Al Farsi emphasized that visitors to Wadi Tiwi can engage in a variety of activities such as admiring natural landscapes, exploring archaeological sites, delving into the stories and history of ancient civilizations, and embarking on hiking and mountain climbing expeditions to discover different terrains. Moreover, they can partake in boat trips, attend cultural events, capture the beauty of nature and archaeological features through photography, and engage with the local community to gain insights into the lifestyle of residents in the neighboring villages.
