Algiers: The Council of Oman, representing the Sultanate of Oman, actively participated in the 36th conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. This two-day conference focuses on the current situation in the Arab region, the challenges faced by joint Arab action, and ways to strengthen cooperation among member states of the Union.
One of the key topics discussed during the conference is the ongoing developments in the Palestinian issue, particularly the brutal aggression carried out by Israeli occupation forces against the people of Gaza. The conference also aims to explore ways to provide support to Palestine.
During his speech at the conference, Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, emphasized the importance of achieving Arab unity as the only means to restore the Arab nation's standing among other nations. He stressed the need to rebuild trust and brotherhood, and put an end to conflicts that only benefit the enemies of the Arab nation.
Al Maawali highlighted that the Israeli aggression against Gaza has exposed the false slogans and emphasized the importance of a solid and unified Arab position in supporting calls for peace. He further noted that the occupation force only recognizes the language of force and confrontation.
Al Maawali commended the role of global free media in showcasing the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause, the hardships faced by Palestinians, and the aggressions of the brutal Israeli occupation. He stated that resistance against this occupation is a fundamental right to defend an occupied land against the occupier.
