Washington, DC: A day after Donald Trump declared reciprocal tariffs on 14 nations, two days before his July 9 deadline, the US President stated on Tuesday that his administration will disclose a minimum of seven countries that the US will engage in trade with on Wednesday morning.
In a post on Truth Social, the US President stated that the names of other countries will be disclosed by Wednesday afternoon.
We will be releasing a minimum of seven trade-related nations tomorrow morning, with an increased number of countries being released in the afternoon. Thank you for your attention to this issue! Trump stated.
Earlier on Monday (local time), the US President posted letters from his administration to 14 nations, notifying them of the reciprocal tariffs, which will take effect on August 1.
He also clarified that there would be no extensions of the deadline day and that all funds would be due and payable beginning AUGUST 1, 2025. No extensions will be granted.
Trump first revealed the letters he had written to Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and South Korea's President Yoon Sukyeol.
Approximately two hours later, he confirmed that identical letters had been delivered to Malaysia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Myanmar, and Laos.
Later, he shared tariff letters addressed to the leaders of other nations, including Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Tunisia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Cambodia.
In letters to the South Korean President and the Japanese Prime Minister, Trump announced that Japan and South Korea will be subject to a 25% tax as of August 1.
Meanwhile, Thailand and Cambodia will each be subject to a tariff of 36%, while Bangladesh and Serbia will each be hit with a rate of 35%.
Trump also noted that Malaysia and Kazakhstan would each be subject to 25% tariffs, while Myanmar and Laos would be subject to a 40% tariff on their products exported to the US.
Indonesia will be subject to a 32% tariff rate, while imports from South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be liable to 30% tariffs on August 1. According to his letters, Tunisia will be subject to a 25% tariff.
When asked if he was adamant about his August 1 deadline for US tariffs, Trump replied that he was but not 100% certain.
I would say firm but not 100% firm. "If they call and say they want to do something differently, we will be open to that," he said.
