Unified Admission Center Opens Registration For Second Sorting Of Study Programmes

Muscat: The Unified Admission Center, under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, has formally announced the commencement of registration for the forthcoming second sorting of study programs for the academic year 2024/2025. This registration period is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, 10th November.

The center has clarified that students enrolled in the academic year 2023/2024, who have not yet registered, are eligible to participate in the second sorting process. Additionally, students who have registered but have not secured a study seat, as well as those who have been offered a seat but have not completed their registration or subsequently withdrew, are also eligible to apply. It is important to note, however, that students who have already completed and secured their study seats are not permitted to participate in the second sorting.

The center has further elucidated that the appendix to the student guide for the academic year 2024/2025, accessible on its website, provides comprehensive details regarding the study opportunities available for the second sorting. These opportunities encompass a total of 3,416 vacant seats across various programs, which have remained unfilled due to a lack of applicants or due to previous candidates being rejected.

These vacant seats are available across a variety of categories, including internal and external scholarships, placements at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman College of Health Sciences, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, vocational colleges, and programs designed for students with special needs. Furthermore, there are competitive opportunities available for the Professional Competency Certificate programs offered at vocational colleges.

Students who are eligible are encouraged to review the study programs for which they are qualified by visiting their respective registration pages on the unified admission system. Here, a "link to programs that meet its conditions" will be provided, offering relevant options. The center advises students to organize their program selections based on personal preference and interest in higher education institutions and specific areas of specialization.

It is important to note that selections made in previous registration stages do not carry over to the second sorting registration page. Therefore, students are required to re-enter all the study programs for which they wish to apply, even if they have previously listed them.

For students aiming to compete in programs at Sultan Qaboos University, external missions, and health specialities, a competitive average equal to or exceeding the last accepted average from the initial sorting stage is necessary.

As previously communicated, the center has established key dates for the second sorting registration and acceptance process for the academic year 2024/2025. Following the conclusion of registration, candidates for program-specific tests will be notified, with these tests scheduled to take place from Wednesday, 13th November, to Sunday, 17th November. The center will announce the final acceptance results for the second sorting on the evening of Wednesday, 20th November, 2024.
