UNICEF Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Marc Rubin, is currently in the Sultanate of Oman for high-level discussions with government officials and participation in UNICEF regional Health and Nutrition Network meetings.

Throughout his visit, the Deputy Regional Director will meet with key representatives from various government bodies such as the Ministry of Health, the Foreign Ministry, National Center for Statistics and Information, the Environment Authority, the Ministry of Health, and the Social Protection Fund. Additionally, discussions will be held with the World Health Organization and other partners to address important issues including child health, nutrition, climate change, protection, and the utilization of data for evidence-based decision-making. The primary goal of these meetings is to strengthen the collaboration between UNICEF and the Omani government to ensure the well-being of children in Oman.

Apart from these official engagements, the Deputy Director will also participate in the regional Health and Nutrition Network meetings taking place in the Sultanate. These sessions serve as a platform for experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from the region to exchange best practices, explore innovative solutions, and devise strategies to enhance child health and nutrition outcomes across the MENA region. As part of the agenda, more than 70 regional health and nutrition experts will visit health facilities in Muscat to witness firsthand the progress made in delivering services and interventions aimed at improving health outcomes for children. By actively engaging in these activities, the Deputy Director underscores UNICEF's commitment to promoting regional collaboration and sharing knowledge to address critical health challenges.

UNICEF Regional Deputy Director Mr. Rubin conveyed his positive outlook on the visit, expressing, "I am privileged to be in Oman and interact with our government partners and regional counterparts. By working together, we can enhance our progress and tackle the obstacles ahead to guarantee that every child in the region can thrive in good health, education, and safety."

This visit underscores UNICEF's dedication to working closely with the Omani government and regional allies to promote the rights and welfare of children. Through these collaborative initiatives, UNICEF strives to play a role in creating a better future for all children in Oman and the surrounding region.
