Ukraine: Trump, Putin Agree On 30-day Energy Truce

Washington, D.C.: In a recent phone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump reached an agreement for a 30-day halt in attacks on each other's energy infrastructure, instructing the Russian military to comply with this directive.

The Kremlin released a statement indicating that the two leaders also discussed a U.S. proposal for a ceasefire, which Ukraine had accepted the previous week.

Putin reportedly highlighted "important issues" regarding the monitoring of this truce, emphasizing the need to ensure that Ukraine does not exploit the ceasefire to bolster its military forces or rearm.

The Kremlin noted, "It was stressed that a complete halt to foreign military support and intelligence sharing with Kyiv is essential to prevent further escalation of the conflict and to facilitate a resolution through political and diplomatic channels."

In parallel, the White House announced that Trump and Putin concurred on the necessity of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine with a "lasting peace," and that discussions aimed at achieving this objective would commence immediately.

According to the White House statement, "The leaders agreed that the path to peace will initiate with a ceasefire concerning energy and infrastructure, alongside technical discussions on implementing a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, culminating in a full ceasefire and enduring peace." These negotiations are set to begin promptly in the Middle East.
