Muscat: Captain Ahmed Ali Al Badi, the Royal Navy of Oman's National Hydrographic Office director, has been given the renowned 2025 Alexander Dalrymple Prize by the United Kingdom's Hydrographic Office (UKHO). The honor acknowledges his major contributions to the development of hydrographic science and marine navigation at regional and international levels.
The prize was given out during a formal ceremony at the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office headquarters in Taunton. This global award recognizes Oman's pioneering position in hydrography, as evidenced by its outstanding attempts to improve maritime safety, update navigational charts and information, and active participation in international collaboration through the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
Established in 2006, the Alexander Dalrymple Prize is one of the world's most renowned hydrographic honors. It is given yearly to pioneering individuals or institutions who have made substantial contributions to hydrography (nautical charting), navigation, and maritime geography worldwide.
