Tropical Storm 'Asna' Downgraded To Deep Tropical Depression

Muscat: The tropical storm 'Asna' has been downgraded to a deep tropical depression, as per the latest updates from Oman Meteorology.

In a formal announcement, Oman Meteorology has reported that the most recent satellite imagery and analyses conducted by the National Centre for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards suggest that the storm's center is presently located 220 km from the Omani coast, near Ras Al Hadd. The wind speeds at the storm's center have shown a decrease, falling within the range of 28 to 33 knots.

It is anticipated that the storm will continue to weaken, potentially being classified as a tropical depression within the forthcoming hours.

Despite this downgrade, the advisory for elevated sea levels remains in place, with wave heights projected to range from 3 to 5 meters. Additionally, seawater is expected to cover low-lying coastal regions and creeks today and tomorrow.
