Muscat: The Ministry of Education recently hosted a workshop centered around sustainability and environmental citizenship. Dr. Basma al Riyami, a specialist in citizenship from the Department of Citizenship, led the workshop. The program covered various topics, such as introducing green education, teaching methods for green education, and incorporating environmental preservation and sustainability into the curriculum. The aim was to enhance students' environmental awareness, social responsibility, critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and innovation in finding sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
During the workshop, participants received training on how to incorporate green practices into the curriculum. They also had the opportunity to apply these skills in practical exercises and learn about the Ministry of Education's efforts in promoting green education. Additionally, the workshop introduced the concepts of environmental citizenship and sustainability, as well as strategies for integrating these concepts into school curricula. It also focused on empowering students to develop decision-making skills related to environmental issues through teaching strategies and educational activities.
