Three Awards For Oman At WHO Meet

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has been recognized with three prestigious global health awards this year for its exceptional contributions in health research, medical services, and societal welfare across various medical domains. These accolades were presented at the seventy-seventh World Health Organization meeting.

Oman stands as the pioneering nation in the Eastern Mediterranean region to have its healthcare professionals honored with three simultaneous awards from the World Health Organization.

Badr bin Saif Al Rawahi, the Director of the Disease Control Department at the Ministry of Health, was bestowed with the esteemed Dr. Lee Jong-wook Memorial Award for Public Health by the World Health Organization.

Dr. Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Wahaibi, a Senior Consultant in Family and Community Medicine from the Ministry of Health, was recognized with the "His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Award" for his research in the fields of Healthcare for the elderly and Health Promotion, presented by the World Health Organization.

Simultaneously, Dr. Jamila bint Tayseer Al Abri, the Director of the Department of Women and Children's Health at the Ministry of Health, was honored with the Ihsan Daghramji Award for Family Health, presented by the World Health Organization.

The awards ceremony took place in Geneva during the seventy-seventh World Health Organization meeting, and was attended by His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, the Minister of Health, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Mandhari, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Planning and Organization.

These prestigious awards symbolize the Sultanate of Oman's commitment, gratitude, and appreciation for the tireless efforts and significant contributions made towards achieving comprehensive development in alignment with professional and humanitarian commitments, cultural values, and health-related objectives in pursuit of the seventeen global goals for sustainable development.
