MUSCAT: The Ruwi Clock Tower in Muscat served as a focal point of unity during Ramadan, as thousands congregated for one of Oman’s largest community iftars on Friday, March 14.
Hosted by the Deccani Wing of the Indian Social Club Oman (ISC), this annual gathering has been a beloved tradition for over twenty years, attracting individuals from various nationalities to celebrate generosity, unity, and cultural exchange.
This event not only embodies the essence of Ramadan but also enhances a profound sense of community and belonging.
Suhail Khan, the head of the iftar organizing committee, remarked, “The gathering embraced individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a spirit of brotherhood and unity.”
He further noted, “Volunteers from all walks of life were instrumental in the event’s success, assisting with meal distribution, coordinating logistics, and creating an atmosphere of compassion and solidarity.”
Participants broke their fast with traditional Hyderabadi dishes, followed by communal prayers for peace and harmony. More than just a shared meal, the community iftar acted as a venue for forging friendships, reinforcing community ties, and celebrating the values of Ramadan. The gathering also included charitable donations, highlighting the significance of giving back to the community.
