Symposium On Educational Specialisations Kicks Off

The Symposium on Educational Specializations Outcomes and Strategic Implications for Education and Quality of Outcomes commenced on Monday in Muscat. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, and attended by Dr. Mahad bin Said Baowain, Minister of Labour. The symposium aims to gather 300 participants from the education sector to highlight the significance of enhancing the school educational system in Oman by improving its resources and cultivating skilled generations and capable national talents across all developmental aspects.

This symposium is part of the ongoing efforts by relevant authorities to enhance the recognition of educational specializations outcomes at the bachelor's level or equivalent, as well as the educational qualification diploma program in both public and private universities and colleges within and outside Oman. Furthermore, it aims to expand opportunities for public and private higher education institutions.

Dr. Sulaiman al Jamoudi, the Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, delivered a speech on behalf of the Ministry of Education. He highlighted the significance of enhancing the educational system in schools across the Sultanate of Oman by focusing on the quality of teachers and their ability to prepare competent future generations.

The symposium aims to address various challenges related to the acceptance of individuals interested in pursuing educational specializations. One of the key challenges is the acceptance of a large number of students in educational specializations that are not necessarily required in the school education sector. Additionally, the symposium will shed light on the difficulties faced by educational planners due to the lack of comprehensive databases for students studying teacher preparation programs outside the Sultanate of Oman. This issue needs to be taken into consideration for effective planning and decision-making.

On the first day of the symposium, two main sessions were conducted. The first session focused on the topic of 'Professional Standards of Teacher Preparation Programs' and was chaired by Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education.
