The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah and various government agencies and private sector entities, is set to host the Sur Marine Sports Festival from August 18 to August 28, 2024, at Mokha Beach in the Wilayat of Sur.
This event is part of the executive program designating Sur as the Capital of Arab Tourism 2024.
The festival aims to highlight the tourism potential of the Wilayat of Sur and the broader South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, which is renowned for its historical significance as a cultural hub with a rich maritime heritage.
Attracting visitors from both within Oman and abroad, the festival will feature the Oman Sailing Championship 2024, encompassing competitions across four categories, including professional and junior sailors, as well as Elka 4 and Elka 6 boats. Attendees can also look forward to kitesurfing, swimming competitions, and traditional rowing boat races, all designed to offer exhilarating sailing experiences.
Additionally, the festival will host an exhibition showcasing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and handicrafts, along with food trucks and a variety of entertainment activities.
