SQU Ranked 362 In QS World University Ranking

Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has made remarkable progress in the QS World University Ranking (QS), climbing 92 places to secure the 362nd position, its highest ranking to date.

SQU has witnessed significant improvements across various indicators in the QS, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Employment Outcomes, and Sustainability.

The university's commitment to fostering strong relationships with collaborating academics and researchers from around the world, as well as the contributions of its academic staff to colleges and research centers, have played a pivotal role in enhancing its academic reputation. Furthermore, the university's partnership with the employment sector has been instrumental in achieving this milestone.

Notably, the university's collaboration and direct communication with the National Records System of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the National Employment Program have significantly contributed to enhancing its employer reputation and employment outcomes.

In line with the QS's inclusion of a new sub-ranking, the Sustainability indicator, SQU has demonstrated its dedication to sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman. In the QS Sustainability Ranking for 2024, the university secured the 286th position globally, highlighting its efforts in social and environmental development and its policies.

HH Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of SQU, expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable progress made by the university, emphasizing the significance of this ranking in aligning with Oman Vision 2040. He highlighted that the university has successfully accomplished its first strategic goal of being among the top 500 universities worldwide by 2030, which sets it on the right path to achieve the second strategic goal.

He extended his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the team behind the Project of Enhancing the University's Ranking in the International Ranking of Universities, as well as the various departments and units of the university for their contribution to this achievement.

HH Sayyeda Dr. Mona bint Fahd Al Said, SQU Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Project of Enhancing the University's Ranking in the International Ranking of Universities, expressed her gratitude towards the university for attaining this significant progress towards the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

She emphasized that the university's attainment of this prestigious position serves as a crucial foundation that showcases its true standing and strategic role on the global stage. She also emphasized the importance of the university's sustainability in dedicating efforts and continuously improving by implementing best practices that would enhance SQU's global ranking.

The analysis conducted by the QS Ranking institution encompassed data from 5,663 universities across 106 countries. Out of these, 1,503 universities have been featured in the global rankings for the year 2025, with the inclusion of 23 new universities in this year's edition (2024). 

This ranking holds significant importance as it paves the way for future accomplishments and further solidifies Sultan Qaboos University's position as one of the most distinguished educational institutions worldwide.
