Al Ain: The Special Olympics Oman team is taking part in the Special Olympics MENA Regional Equestrian Competition, taking place in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, from August 25 to 27, 2025.
This involvement showcases Oman's dedication to empowering athletes with intellectual disabilities, enhancing their skills, and providing them with the chance to compete and engage with peers from various nations.
Additionally, it highlights Oman's commitment to increasing community awareness regarding the abilities of this group and fostering the development of sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities on both a regional and international scale.
The roster of athletes features Suhail Al Manji, Thuraa Al Ghafri, Maithaa Al Busaidi, Omar Al Hamdani, Al Khalil Al Rawahi, and Fatima Al Harthy. They are supported by a coaching and administrative team led by coach Moath Al Amri and Zamzam Al Alawi.
The Special Olympics Oman delegation took part in the preparatory technical meeting for the championship.
This meeting, which included Nabila Al Harthy, National Director of Special Olympics Oman, addressed various organizational and technical matters, the overall competition schedule, and the significance of active athlete participation, which fosters the principles of fair competition and sportsmanship.
