Sohar: Sohar Sulphur Fertilizers Company, which focuses on the production of sulphur fertilizers, is actively working to bolster and promote Omani exports. Headquartered in Madayn within the Wilayat of Sohar in the North Al Batinah Governorate, the company exports its products to over 26 countries globally.
Founded in 2011 as a joint venture between OQ (a subsidiary of the Oman Investment Authority) and Aqua Venture International, Sohar Sulphur Fertilizers aims to establish Oman as a central hub for the manufacturing and marketing of sulphur fertilizers, including bentonite and various micronutrients.
Abdulhakeem Ahmed Al Qasmi, the Acting Managing Director, noted that the facility is the first of its kind in Oman to produce sulphur-bentonite fertilizers, boasting an annual production capacity of up to 60,000 tons.
The company primarily offers 90 percent pure sulphur fertilizers, along with a range of micronutrient-based fertilizers, including copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), boron (Bo), iron (Fe), molybdenum (Mo), and magnesium (Mg).
Al Qasmi informed the Oman News Agency (ONA) that by the end of 2024, the company plans to expand its product range to include 22 different products.
He further explained that the production facility employs cutting-edge technology and a fully automated SCADA system. The company exceeded its production targets, achieving 105% of its planned output with a total production volume of 48,500 tonnes in 2024. Additionally, sales revenue increased to OMR3.9 million (approximately $10.3 million).
Al Qasimi emphasized that these accomplishments strengthen Sohar Sulphur Fertilizers' role as a key partner in bolstering the agricultural sector on both local and international fronts.
He noted that the company is pivotal in enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s capabilities in delivering sustainable agricultural solutions, which are essential for achieving global food security and addressing the demands of expanding agricultural markets.
Al Abri highlighted the company’s steadfast dedication to innovation and development, aimed at adding value to Omani exports and reinforcing Oman’s status as a global hub for the production of high-quality fertilizers that promote sustainable agricultural growth, thereby supporting Oman’s ambitious vision for its national economy.
